Vitznau Circular Route

If you simply feel like heading out on foot, you can start right here in the village.

The Vitznau Circular Route takes you above Vitznau for changing views of the village, Lake Lucerne and the surrounding mountains:

• Start at the Vitznau boat station and follow the lake.
• Pass the Rigi railway depot and head briefly along the main road.
• Walk through the small forest towards Vitznau campsite.
• Continue uphill past the Norli hunting lodge, fire pit and climbing wall.
• Return towards the village, passing the football field and Mühlebach waterfall.
• Continue to the Plattenbänkli viewpoint.
• Cross the cog railway track and climb along Wilenstrasse for wide views over Vitznau.
• Turn left after around 1.5 km and follow the mountain path downhill beside the stream.
• Finish with an easy walk along the Lake Lucerne shoreline back to the centre of Vitznau.

It’s the sort of walk you can fit into the day without turning it into the whole day.
